Rutherford Joins Peterbrooke Chocolatier

February 12, 2019
Rutherford Ride Alongs

For our second Rutherford Ride Along, I spent an afternoon in Atlantic Beach with Brooke Joyner and her staff at Peterbrooke Chocolatier. Founded by Brooke's family in 1983, Peterbrooke is an iconic small business in Northeast Florida, known for the specialty treats its employees craft each day.

Brooke and her talented staff showed me their labor-intensive process to handmake their chocolate on-site in their store. We discussed the challenges she faces as a small business owner and what Congress can do to make it easier for them to succeed, such as reducing the tax burden on employers like Peterbrooke. I have proudly promoted policies to support our small businesses – our most dynamic job creators –so they can invest back into their businesses and employees.

Thank you to Brooke and her team for providing me with this opportunity to listen to their story, and I will take her perspective back to Washington to continue to advocate for small businesses and their employees. I had such a "sweet" time!
