Internship Opportunities

Congressman John Rutherford’s office is currently accepting applications for internships in his Washington, D.C. and Jacksonville, FL office.

A Congressional internship offers applicants an exciting opportunity to support staff while learning about the daily operations of the Legislative branch. Interns will assist the staff with constituent services, communications, administrative tasks, and legislative research. Congressman Rutherford’s Internship Program is designed primarily for the educational benefit of the participant. Interns working in the District Office have the opportunity to contribute to the office’s interaction with the surrounding community through constituent services, local events, and community meetings. In Washington, interns' responsibilities will vary. They will be asked to answer phones, run errands, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, give Capitol tours, attend hearings and briefings and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. Candidates should have a strong work ethic, be highly organized and motivated, and possess a positive attitude.

Both paid and unpaid opportunities are available. College credit, if applicable, will be provided. Qualified applicants should send their cover letter, resume, application, and letter of recommendations to FL05.Internship@mail.house.gov.
