Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2017 to modernize the GI Bill. This bipartisan, bicameral package, which is the product of the hard work of many veteran service organizations, the House and Senate VA Committees, and veteran advocates, is budget neutral and includes Congressman Rutherford's Julian Woods Yellow Ribbon Program Expansion Act.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman John Rutherford introduced legislation to allow job creators who have been in the U.S. on an E-2 investor treaty visa for more than 10 years to apply for legal permanent residence. The bill, H.R. 3265, would also allow the children of these visa holders to remain in the country until they are 26 and apply for work authorization.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman John Rutherford, along with Congressman Don Beyer, led a bipartisan letter from more than 100 members of Congress to Interior Secretary Zinke voicing concerns with a proposal to issue seismic testing permits for the Atlantic Ocean. Seismic testing, which is the prerequisite to opening the Atlantic to offshore drilling, poses a direct threat to the costal economies dependent on healthy ocean ecosystems for fishing, tourism, recreation, and the numerous businesses that rely on these industries.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States House of Representatives voted unanimously to pass H.R. 2190, the Streamlining Department of Homeland (DHS) Overhead Act. This bill, which was introduced by Congressman John Rutherford in May, would mandate the development of regional property strategies that focus on consolidating leases when mission appropriate, give the Under Secretary of Management oversight tools to ensure DHS property is being managed effectively, and clearly outline responsibilities of the logistics team to achieve cost savings.
