WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Rutherford introduced H.R. 1294, the Reducing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Acquisition Cost Growth Act. This bill would hold DHS agencies more accountable in administering their major acquisition programs and would give Congress greater oversight of troubled programs to prevent wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars by agencies like the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Chairman Michael McCaul of the House Committee on Homeland Security appointed Congressman John Rutherford to the newly-created Task Force on Denying Terrorists Entry into the United States. This position on the Committee expands the work already being done to stop terrorists from entering the United States. The Task Force will examine pathways by which terrorists might infiltrate and will look to identify gaps in U.S. intelligence sharing and vetting procedures.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman John Rutherford (FL-04) applauded the Navy's decision to make Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville the East Coast Forward Operating Base for the MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft. The MQ-4C Triton drone system specializes in maritime information, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. It can monitor the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea in a 360-degree circle, 24 hours at a time and can fly at altitudes higher than ten miles.
