WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump has signed into law the Crisis Stabilization and Community Reentry Act of 2020, a bill introduced in the House by Representative John Rutherford (R-FL) and Representative David Trone (D-MD). This new law expands access to mental health services for individuals leaving the prison system, providing a "Continuity of Care" for those at risk of recidivism.
For another Rutherford Ride Along, I spent some time in the trees with Rayonier in Nassau County to learn more about forestry's economic and environmental impact on Northeast Florida.
Each year, Rayonier plants over 30 million trees by hand! Unlike seasonal crops, timber is planted for a generation, not just for a growing season. It takes years of hard work, disciplined care, and a healthy environment to keep trees in the optimal condition. New technologies allow them to use fewer chemicals and fertilizer, which is better for the environment and their trees.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed legislation, first introduced by Congressman John Rutherford (FL-04) and Congressman Michael Waltz (FL-06), to name a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) clinic in St. Johns County after Army Private First Class Leo C. Chase, Jr., the first man from St. Johns County to be killed in the Vietnam War. The new VA outpatient clinic will be designated as the "Leo C. Chase, Jr. Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic.''
