JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A $57 million building with a very modern look will be going up in the historic LaVilla area, just west of downtown.
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority broke ground Tuesday on its new regional transportation center. A portion of the site that will house the city's Greyhound bus station is already under construction.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States House of Representatives voted unanimously to pass H.R. 2190, the Streamlining Department of Homeland (DHS) Overhead Act. This bill, which was introduced by Congressman John Rutherford in May, would mandate the development of regional property strategies that focus on consolidating leases when mission appropriate, give the Under Secretary of Management oversight tools to ensure DHS property is being managed effectively, and clearly outline responsibilities of the logistics team to achieve cost savings.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Rutherford introduced H.R. 2471, the Terrorist Release Announcements to Counter Extremist Recidivism Act (TRACER Act). This legislation would require that state and local law enforcement be notified when federal prisoners convicted of terrorism charges are released from prison into their communities. While this information is sometimes shared with local agencies, often it is not, leaving local law enforcement and fusion centers without essential information to monitor security risks in their communities.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Rutherford introduced H.R. 1294, the Reducing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Acquisition Cost Growth Act. This bill would hold DHS agencies more accountable in administering their major acquisition programs and would give Congress greater oversight of troubled programs to prevent wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars by agencies like the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
