WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Rutherford issued the following statement after President Trump signed into law two important bills for veterans - the Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2017, and a bill to extend the authorization of the Veterans Choice health care program which also includes the authorization for a new outpatient clinic in Jacksonville. These bipartisan, bicameral packages are the product of collaboration between many veteran service organizations, the House and Senate VA Committees, and veteran advocates.
Jacksonville, Fla. – This week, Congressman John Rutherford will travel to Israel as part of a delegation of Members of Congress to meet with various leaders in the region including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, Congressman John Rutherford voted for H.R. 3219, the Make America Secure Appropriations Act, which provides funding in Fiscal Year 2018 for the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and Energy. It also provides funds for water infrastructure initiatives and the construction of much needed fencing, levees and secondary barriers along vulnerable portions of our southern border.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representatives John Rutherford (FL-04) and Al Lawson (FL-05) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed S. 114, a bipartisan bill that extends funding for the Veterans Choice Program, improves VA employee hiring and retention, and authorizes long-needed leases for 28 VA medical facilities. Importantly, this measure authorizes $18.6 million for a replacement outpatient clinic in Jacksonville.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman John Rutherford introduced legislation to allow job creators who have been in the U.S. on an E-2 investor treaty visa for more than 10 years to apply for legal permanent residence. The bill, H.R. 3265, would also allow the children of these visa holders to remain in the country until they are 26 and apply for work authorization.
